Surf, Sand and Sky is scheduled for July 30! Email me for a registration form. it will be from 9:30-3pm. We will be surfing, learning to fish, and lots more.

Summer Plans

The Girl Scouts in Crescent City and the surrounding county are putting on Surf Sand and Sky again this year. We are still in the planning stages, but we are hoping to have experts come teach the girls about Native American uses of the beach, tide fishing, the Coast Guard and Emergency Preparedness and Surfing.

It should be a lot of fun. Details to come.

Still accepting registrations

The deadline for registrations only made it onto some of the forms. Therefore, we we will be accepting your registration until the day of the event. Please be aware, however, that shirt sizes can only be distributed on a first-come first-served basis. If you want a specific size, turn your registration in today!

Surf Sand and Sun '08

We are holding our annual Surf, Sand and Sun day on July 19th from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Registration is due June 30.

Who: Open to all girls grades K and up. Adults are welcome, too, either as volunteers or chaperones.

Location: Crescent City South Beach, on Anchor Way

Cost: $17 for registered girls
$17 for registered adults
$27 non-registered girl (which includes $10 Girl Scout Membership Fee)

Includes: A day full of fun! T-shirt, patch and supplies. Lunch and a snack.


Activities:

We have arranged for the Coast Guard and Sheriff's boats to take girls out on the water. We will have a demonstration with an anti-drug dog. There will be crafts, sandcastle building and more.

What to Wear and Bring

Crescent City, California is part of the Northwest coastal region and in June the average temperatures are in the 50s to 70s and the Pacific Ocean is even colder. This is not a swimming event. Suitable attire for this event would include pants, and longsleeves and a light jacket. The event includes a t-shirt so if it is sunny, we can just wear that.

The summer is less rainy than the winter, but rain is always a possibility. Just local weather as the event date gets closer.

A hat or sunscreen is a good idea even if it is cloudy. We will be outside the whole day.
